What does great transportation service look like from the perspective of a passenger with special needs?

In this engaging and personal session, attendees will hear firsthand from a wheelchair user whose life changed after a spinal cord injury and whose journey led to a career in the mobility and transportation industry. Through stories of navigating public transportation, building independence, and interacting with transportation professionals, this session will explore how everyday actions, communication, and service decisions can profoundly impact a passenger's confidence, dignity, and quality of life.

Participants will be invited into an open conversation about lessons learned, meaningful rider interactions, and opportunities for growth. The session will touch on the importance of proper wheelchair securement and ongoing training in creating safe, respectful, and empowering student transportation experiences.

Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of wheelchair etiquette and practical insights for supporting mobility independence for students with disabilities.
